A 22-year-old Californian has been charged with possessing material relating to terrorism and openly supporting ISIS.
The Justice Department allege Amer Sinan Alhaggagi is responsible for several social media accounts supporting ISIS and of sharing suicide bombing information.
Alhaggagi, who is the 130th person arrested on ISIS related offences in America since March 2014, claimed to be willing to carry out a suicide bombing and was prepared to ‘redefine terror’ by killing 10,000 Americans.
His plan included distributing poisoned drugs and attacking gay clubs in the San Francisco Bay area.
Alhaggagi had spent time training for terror in yemen and intended to escape America through Mexico after his attacks.
State prosecutors have revealed Alhaggagi was contacted through social media accounts by undercover agents who offered to become involved in his attacks, which included sellijg cocaine laced with powerful rat poison in the Bay Area nightclubs.
He showed the agent information on extracting strychnine and cocaine and an ISIS bomb making manual. He also shared photographs of guns he had stashed.
His boasts included;
‘I live close to San Francisco, that’s like the gay capital of the world. I’m going to handle them right, LOL.’
‘I’m going to place a bomb in a gay club, Wallah or by God, I’m going to tear up the city.’
‘The whole Bay Area is going to be up in flames.’
He later met with undercover agents posing as fellow ISIS supporters to give them a guided tour of the Bay area to point out his intended targets.
Alhaggagi’s family has been quoted as saying, ‘He was very young and immature when he got involved in the online conversations that are the basis for these allegations. he did not think those conversations were serious and he never intended to harm anybody.’
Which, frankly, should be enough evidence to either detain or deport the entire Alhaggagi family, unless American authorities have chosen to learn nothing from Europe.
For now only Alhaggagi has been remanded in custody and faces 20-years in the slammer.
