What does PROROGUING PARLIAMENT mean…?

A lot more can be achieved if none of them are in there...

Supporters of Boris Johnson’s bid to become leader of the Conservative Party, and British Prime Minister, have been using the term ‘proroguing parliament,’ and Johnson himself appears to be open to such an idea.

But what does it mean? Well, in short Prorogation means the end of a parliamentary session.

What exactly is proroguing Parliament?

It is the term given to the time between the end of one Parliamentary session and the State Opening of another.

The parliamentary session may also be prorogued before Parliament is dissolved.

It is common and usually happens once a year.

What Happens when Parliament is prorogued?

On the advice of the Privy Council, a group of Royal advisors mainly made up of members of the House of Commons and Lords, The Queen formally dissolves the parliamentary session.

This normally comes via an announcement, on behalf of the Queen. The announcement is read in the House of Lords and MPs file into the Lords chamber to listen to the speech.

Following the reading of the announcement both the House of Commons and House of Lords are officially prorogued and will not sit again until the State Opening of Parliament.

Why are Brexiteers considering proroguing Parliament?

Tory leadership candidate Dominic Raab provoked anger after he refused to rule out ending the current Parliamentary session.

In theory a new Prime Minister could advise the Queen to prorogue Parliament, this would mean that Parliament was closed and MPs would be unable to prevent an inevitable no-deal Brexit on 31 October.

When has Parliament been Prorogued before?

When Amber Rudd was talking to reporters about Mr Raab she said it was “outrageous to consider proroguing Parliament”.

She said:”We are not Stuart kings.”

Mrs Rudd’s Stuart King reference goes back to 1629, when Stuart King, Charles I, prorogued Parliament because they refused to give him financial support, he ruled for 11 years without Parliament.

Those 11 years are known as the  ‘eleven years’ tyranny.’

But, Amber Rudd is an idiot. One of those in the current parliament who has proved themselves undemocratic and unfit for purpose.

Because proroguing is a common event and not confined to a single, major undemocratic royal move from 1649.

Which is how far she had to go back to find a comparison she can use to smear Brexiteers and their tactics.

Normally, Parliament is prorogued at the end of every parliamentary year, which currently runs from spring to spring.

Prorogation also happened before the 2015 General Election.

Will it actually happen?

Well, House of Commons Speaker John Bercow, whose own misguided arrogance and sense of self-importance places him alongside the Stuart kings, has said it’s ‘simply not going to happen.’

But all that is required is for a Prime Minister to make such a request of the Queen, as Head of State.

Now, so far the Queen has never denied similar requests from an elected Prime Minister, so to do so now would ‘out’ her as a REMAINER, which, in turn, would signal the end of the Royal Family in the United Kingdom.

Because the British people would not put up with that nonsense.

Other rebel Tory MP’s say that a prorogued Parliament ‘for the express purpose of getting BREXIT through,’ would be ‘unconstitutional, undemocratic and wouldn’t work.’

Which is ironic, given that elected MPs actively denying the results of a Democratic Referendum is, of course, ‘unconstitutional, undemocratic, illegal and WON’T WORK.’

These people have time and again revealed they are not fit for purpose.

They are still failing to grasp the idea that if BREXIT is not implemented on October 31st, with or without a ‘deal,’ then this parliament of under-achievers is finished.

And so are the Conservative and Labour Parties.

How Boris can save BREXIT, the Tory Party AND himself
